Biography: Artist: Mary Karavos
Mary Karavos was born in Toronto, ON. Her art training began at the Ontario College of Art and continued in Florence, Italy when she was selected to study fine art there. She was influenced by the beautiful mosaics in Italy in the many years she lived there.
She transforms imported Japanese and Nepalese papers into wonderful works of art. No paint is used, only paper and adhesives. Like a mosaic, she builds each piece layer by layer and piece by piece.
Her art has been in solo, group and juried exhibitions in Bologna, Italy, Monaco, New York City, Paris as well as Ontario and Quebec.
"I love the way my art allows me to meet and connect with people. I honour being able to see the way people take their time to select the piece that speaks to them. Choosing art, like creating it is a deep and personal process."
